My Tattered Old Nest

My Tattered Old Nest

Sometimes it only takes one step back
to see the picture
It takes another step back to allow yourself to feel,
Feel the anger and rage you keep at bay, but never too far away.
Hot tears burning my cheeks, the sign to really take note
This is where you must leave and don’t forget to take your coat.
I’ve been here far too long, and for what?
The nest is old and worn, no amount of repair will do
The efforts are short-lived and the need for distraction and escape are temporary relief.
Constantly flying back to this hell, I call my nest, my refuge from the rest of the world.
I know this just won’t do
I use all of my strength and will to hold on, I just won’t let go
Neglecting all I am capable of for all that is incapable to allow me to thrive.
It’s been so long I wouldn’t let myself see another way
So the Universe stepped in
And sent me my reflection, forcing me to look in the mirror
A quick glance wasn’t possible anymore, it had to be a full frontal
The confrontation too much to bear, I created another distraction,
desperately wanting to escape from me
Illusions can’t last forever
I had to stop betraying myself and look directly in the mirror
My truth, as it currently stands
My old, tattered nest
Nothing in it no longer serves me.
I have no choice, but to travel
To find my new, temporary nest

Poetics describes a whole range of engagements with life that are storied, reflective and filled with imagination and inspiration, as opposed to analysis in the strict sense. When science rules, the magic fades. When thinking ascends the throne, the soul may atrophy. Yet poetics is not irrational – it is a take which reaches into a different aspect of our humanity – one where we can celebrate that which moves us, not dwell on what limits us. Expect surprises. One or many may lead. None or a few may follow and then decide to take the lead. This is a fluidity to break the mould of rigidity. Join us on this journey. Let us hold hands boldly and join voices transformatively. Prabha will be leading us. Feel free to join us.
