Another Final Storm by Prabha

Another Final Storm

The past came back to visit me
Choosing not to reveal itself straightaway
In fact, it came in a non-threatening manner;
An unassuming fashion

I chose the first experience and came to accept this
Believing I would recognise the signs
My observational skills did me well and kept me safe
A little too safe, it seems

There’s a difference between an experience and a lesson
Experience is part of the journey
A lesson is a destination within the entire journey
My strength and self-righteousness enabled me to walk away
So many times
But the pain and the hurt always remained
It was not enough;

I embrace the torment and wear it like a second skin
And endure the weight, a well-deserved punishment
It was time to rid the self-torture by the hands of another
A lover, and a willing accomplice
Consumed by the immense intensity
and unforeseen devotion

I allowed myself to be led back in
Where I found myself authorising what I once wouldn’t
Unable to leave even when there was a choice
Noticing I was feeling no real pain, only imagined suffering
This empowered me to face the next battle from the other

Once I would have been so weak to defend myself so soon
Forgetting myself for a moment or two by fighting identically
Until I realised who I was and honoured myself
By showing up in my real form; of love
I have been met with silence or is that calm?

The calm before the final storm.

Poetics describes a whole range of engagements with life that are storied, reflective and filled with imagination and inspiration, as opposed to analysis in the strict sense. When science rules, the magic fades. When thinking ascends the throne, the soul may atrophy. Yet poetics is not irrational – it is a take which reaches into a different aspect of our humanity – one where we can celebrate that which moves us, not dwell on what limits us. Expect surprises. One or many may lead. None or a few may follow and then decide to take the lead. This is a fluidity to break the mould of rigidity. Join us on this journey. Let us hold hands boldly and join voices transformatively. Prabha will be leading us. Feel free to join us.
